The new team member we are looking for is a Content Manager, overseeing the content team and work product. The person in this role works with the content department team members to develop and execute holistic, comprehensive PR, Social Media and other content strategies and deliverables. Ideal candidates will have a good understanding of public relations, social and digital media medium principles along with local, regional and national media contacts or sources, an understanding of integrated public relations practices including how best to leverage social media and digital marketing into PR planning. We appreciate a comprehensive knowledge of AP Styleguide, copy editing and willingness to learn new systems for media distribution, monitoring and reporting. This person also works interdepartmentally with Account Services, Creative/Design and Interactive and acts as the collaborative center for all written or social/digital content both organic and paid. In sum, we’re looking for a multi-disciplinary person who is PR and social media focused but able to integrate those practices into all elements of a brand's messaging. The Content Manager oversees public relations activities and marketing content initiatives, across multiple platforms and formats. They manage the content team and are responsible for work product from the team including content development, social media calendars for all clients, PR strategies for clients and all editing and proofing of content.

Content Manager - Content Department (Full-time)

This role interfaces with all members of the team but most directly the Content team. ​​The primary function of this role is to lead the overall public relations, social media and content marketing strategy and development for all agency clients. This role supports the work of four direct reports.

Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute an effective public relations strategy to meet the business objectives of the agency’s clients.

  • Establish a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media. Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within industry media. 

  • Develop a cohesive strategy for client’s social media and other digital resources and media. 

  • Use marketplace insights to develop written and visual content.

  • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice for agency clients

  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests. 

  • Collaborate with clients, and industry experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of agency clients. 

  • Responsible for social media and press release recommendations and communication strategy surrounding them. 

  • Responsible for content development for all client marketing collateral and development of all reporting 

  • Drafting and/or editing multi purpose content for clients ranging from web copy to social posts to brochures and media messaging

  • Responding accordingly and/or forwarding information to the right point-of-contact

  • Assist with onboarding new and potential clients

  • Creating client accounts in scheduling software and/or Business Manager

  • Competitor analysis, SWOT analysis, etc.

  • Attending relevant client calls and meetings

  • Offering support on relevant digital/social matters and happenings

  • Attend and assist with relevant client events (on-site and via Zoom)

  • Manage the workflow and job assignments for the Content Department

  • Be accountable to clients and team mates for quality control of work product and timeliness

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the Content Department and it’s team of four writers, strategists and coordinators. 

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, related discipline or with equivalent professional experience.  

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public relations, social media, corporate communications, and/or content marketing. Agency experience preferred.

  • Strong relationships with industry media outlets.

  • Experience managing creatives in a deadline driven environment. 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns. 

  • Proficiency in creating, editing, and promoting written, visual, and digital content. 

  • Ability to develop content consistent with the agency's clients brand voice, style and tone. 

  • Understanding of the top media channels in the industry, which content and approaches work on each, and why. Possess positive existing relationships with key editors and/or broadcasters. 

  • Knowledge of scheduling tools (Sprout, Hootsuite, Facebook Business Manager, etc) 

  • Clear articulation of the business goal behind the creation of a piece of content. 

  • Ability to manage a set of goals involving diverse contributors and content types. 

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 

  • Proficiency with Meltwater or the like

  •  Ability to synthesize complex information and situations to develop clear solutions and 

  •  Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
